How to validate your idea

Validate your course idea

One of the most common fears that course creators have is that no one will enroll in their course. Do you ever have this worry? "What if I spend all my time creating a course, only to find out that no one wants it, no one will buy it, and I wasted my time and money?"

Luckily, you can avoid that fate. You don't have to guess if there is a market for your course topic—and you shouldn't. In fact, it's imperative that you know that your course is a good idea before you create it. In other words, you need to validate your course topic.

Technology make it relatively easy for you to do that. You can follow a simple framework that online expert Jeff Cobb showed us here at Teachable. It involves four categories of research: searching, listening, asking, and testing. Within each category, is a buffet of tools and methods for you to use to validate your course topic. The best part? You can do most of the work it takes to validate your course idea in one sitting.

You don't need to use every method to validate your course, by any means! You just need to do enough research to feel confident there is an engaged audience in your niche who would be interested in your course topic.
